Packaging Void Fill does not import an account, infer a market rate, or silently substitute an industry average.
Inputs and units
The Packaging Void Fill calculation uses Inside box length, Inside box width, Inside box height, Occupied product volume, Target share of void to fill. Keep all money values in one currency and all time, distance, mass, energy or volume entries in the unit printed beside the field. Mixing Packaging Void Fill scopes can produce a plausible number with the wrong meaning.

Formula and worked check
Box liters = inside length × width × height ÷ 1,000; void = box volume − occupied product volume; fill volume = void × target share. A 40 × 30 × 20 cm box is 24 liters; a 14-liter product leaves 10 liters, and an 85% target calls for 8.5 liters of fill. The Packaging Void Fill default is an executable known-answer case, not a benchmark or recommendation. Change one input and verify that the direction of fill material volume still matches the stated relationship.
How to interpret the result
Use the result as a loose-fill volume scenario, then confirm protective performance with the product, material expansion ratio and packaging tests.
