How to Use This Tool
Separate regular and entered overtime hours without assuming local eligibility rules. Calculate weekly gross pay and effective daily hours for a compressed schedule using editable regular hours, overtime hours and multiplier.
The decision this tool supports
A compressed schedule changes daily hours but does not by itself reveal which hours the applicable law or agreement treats as overtime. This page keeps the decision bounded to weekly gross pay and the supporting outputs shown beside it. Compressed Workweek Pay does not import an account, infer a market rate, or silently substitute an industry average.
Inputs and units
The Compressed Workweek Pay calculation uses Hourly rate, Workdays per week, Hours per workday, Entered overtime hours, Overtime multiplier. Keep all money values in one currency and all time, distance, mass, energy or volume entries in the unit printed beside the field. Mixing Compressed Workweek Pay scopes can produce a plausible number with the wrong meaning.
- Hourly rate is entered in currency/hour.
- Workdays per week is entered in days.
- Hours per workday is entered in hours/day.
- Entered overtime hours is entered in hours.
- Overtime multiplier is entered in times.
Formula and worked check
Scheduled pay = days × hours per day × hourly rate; entered overtime pay = overtime hours × hourly rate × multiplier. Four 10-hour days at $28 with no entered overtime produce 40 scheduled hours and $1,120 weekly gross pay. The Compressed Workweek Pay default is an executable known-answer case, not a benchmark or recommendation. Change one input and verify that the direction of weekly gross pay still matches the stated relationship.
How to interpret the result
Enter overtime hours already determined under the governing rule; the tool intentionally does not infer legal eligibility. The additional Compressed Workweek Pay outputs expose the denominator, comparison, capacity or reverse value needed to audit the primary result instead of presenting one unexplained number.
Assumptions
- Entered overtime hours are additional to scheduled hours.
- The user supplies the applicable overtime multiplier.
- All amounts are gross before deductions.
Save the Compressed Workweek Pay input values and date with any material decision. A later Compressed Workweek Pay rerun is reproducible only when the same assumptions and units are available.
Limitations and safety boundary
It is not payroll or legal advice and does not determine daily versus weekly overtime, taxes, breaks, premiums or exemptions. Compressed Workweek Pay is an estimate and cannot replace a contract, local code, licensed professional, calibrated measurement, lender statement or platform report where one governs the decision.
