How to Use This Tool
Enter the customer-facing subscription price and paying subscribers, then choose the commission rate that actually applies to your agreement and programme. Apple's current public material states 30% for standard digital-goods sales, 15% for qualifying subscriptions and 15% for approved App Store Small Business Program developers. Alternative terms and partner programmes can differ, so the rate remains editable.
Model proceeds, not gross billings
Taxes collected from the customer and refunds or billing failures reduce the amount that can become proceeds. The calculator removes those first, then commission, then your own service cost. This order prevents a common mistake: treating the entire sticker price as the commission base and then calling the remainder profit.
Retention turns a monthly price into LTV
Average paid months multiplies net monthly contribution into a simple subscriber lifetime value. It is a cohort-planning figure, not a prediction for one person. Separate acquisition cost from service cost when judging whether paid growth works.
Verify programme status
Small Business eligibility depends on approval and proceeds thresholds, not merely being a small team. Qualifying subscription treatment can depend on subscriber tenure and subscription group. Use App Store Connect financial reports and the current developer agreement before making pricing or accounting decisions.
