Keep all money values in one currency and all time, distance, mass, energy or volume entries in the unit printed beside the field. Formula and worked check
Total exception cost = cases × minutes/case ÷ 60 × labor rate + cases × reship share × reship cost. For 180 cases, 18 minutes each, $28/hour, 25% reshipment and $12 per reship, total modeled cost is $2,052 or $11.40 per case. The Order Exception Cost default is an executable known-answer case, not a benchmark or recommendation. Change one input and verify that the direction of total exception cost still matches the stated relationship.
How to interpret the result
Cost per exception can value prevention work only when case definitions and reship attribution are consistent. The additional Order Exception Cost outputs expose the denominator, comparison, capacity or reverse value needed to audit the primary result instead of presenting one unexplained number.
