Fit labels inside explicit margins and gaps, then compare portrait and rotated layouts. Estimate labels per sheet and sheets required by testing both label orientations inside entered margins, gaps and sheet dimensions.
The decision this tool supports
Area division can claim a yield that cannot be arranged in whole rows, and a rotated label can fit materially more copies on the same sheet. This page keeps the decision bounded to best labels per sheet and the supporting outputs shown beside it. Label Sheet Yield does not import an account, infer a market rate, or silently substitute an industry average.
Inputs and units
The Label Sheet Yield calculation uses Sheet width, Sheet height, Label width, Label height, Margin on each edge, Gap between labels, Labels needed. Keep all money values in one currency and all time, distance, mass, energy or volume entries in the unit printed beside the field. Mixing Label Sheet Yield scopes can produce a plausible number with the wrong meaning.

Formula and worked check
Across = floor((usable sheet width + gap) ÷ (label width + gap)); down uses height; compare the original and 90-degree orientation. A 210 × 297 mm sheet with 5 mm margins, 2 mm gaps and 70 × 35 mm labels fits 21 labels in the better orientation and needs 48 sheets for 1,000. The Label Sheet Yield default is an executable known-answer case, not a benchmark or recommendation. Change one input and verify that the direction of best labels per sheet still matches the stated relationship.
How to interpret the result
Use the best yield for material planning only after confirming cutter tolerances, registration, grain direction and the printer's template. The additional Label Sheet Yield outputs expose the denominator, comparison, capacity or reverse value needed to audit the primary result instead of presenting one unexplained number.

Limitations and safety boundary
It does not perform irregular nesting, mix label sizes, account for bleed or registration marks, or guarantee printer/cutter alignment. Label Sheet Yield is an estimate and cannot replace a contract, local code, licensed professional, calibrated measurement, lender statement or platform report where one governs the decision.
