How the calculation works

Payout is not profitFeesProduct + shippingProfitEtsy deposits sales minus platform fees; inventory and postage still have to be paid.

How to Use This Tool

Etsy's deposit is not the same as an order's profit. The payout calculation begins with item price plus shipping charged to the buyer, then removes Etsy's listing, transaction, payment-processing, advertising and other entered fees. Profit goes one step further by subtracting the product and actual shipping costs.

Shipping affects both sides

Etsy documents that its transaction fee applies to the total order amount including shipping and gift wrap. Charging a buyer five dollars for postage therefore does not add a full five dollars to payout. Enter what the buyer pays and what the carrier costs you in separate fields so the difference stays visible.

Use payout to reconcile Etsy; use profit to decide whether the product is worth selling.

Refresh country-specific inputs

The default payment-processing rate is a US example. Etsy Payments rates differ by country, and regulatory operating fees, currency conversion, VAT on seller fees, deposits and advertising can change the real total. Copy the current values from Etsy's help pages and your Payment account rather than treating a saved result as permanent.

Model assumptions

  • Defaults illustrate a US Etsy Payments order and remain editable because rates, taxes and seller circumstances change.
  • Payout excludes product and fulfilment costs; profit subtracts those business costs separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fees does this Etsy calculator include?
It models listing or renewal, transaction, payment percentage and fixed fee, Offsite Ads and an editable other-fees amount, plus business costs for profit.
Why is shipping charged a percentage fee?
Etsy states that its transaction fee applies to the total order amount, including shipping and gift wrap charged to the buyer.
Is the payment rate the same in every country?
No. Etsy Payments processing uses a percentage plus a fixed amount that varies by bank-account country. Replace the US example with your current rate.
What is the difference between payout and profit?
Payout is order revenue after Etsy fees. Profit also subtracts inventory, packaging, postage and other costs Etsy cannot know.
Should I enter Offsite Ads as 12% or 15%?
Use the rate that applies to your shop and attributed order. Enter zero when the order was not attributed to Offsite Ads.
Does this match my deposit exactly?
It is an order-level estimate. Tax handling, reserves, refunds, prior balances, currency conversion and deposit fees can make the actual transfer differ.
