Estimate the cumulative outward shift in a saddle-stitched stack from measured sheet caliper. Calculate maximum booklet creep, per-edge trim allowance, page count and metric offset from sheet count and paper caliper.
The decision this tool supports
Nested sheets push inner spreads outward, so artwork near the fore edge can be trimmed unevenly if imposition ignores stock thickness. This page keeps the decision bounded to maximum inner-sheet creep and the supporting outputs shown beside it. Booklet Creep does not import an account, infer a market rate, or silently substitute an industry average.
Inputs and units
The Booklet Creep calculation uses Folded sheets, Measured sheet caliper, Pages per folded sheet. Keep all money values in one currency and all time, distance, mass, energy or volume entries in the unit printed beside the field. Mixing Booklet Creep scopes can produce a plausible number with the wrong meaning.

Formula and worked check
This planning model uses maximum inner-sheet creep = (folded sheets − 1) × measured sheet caliper; symmetric edge compensation is half that shift. Twenty folded sheets at 0.004 inch caliper produce 0.076 inch maximum modeled creep, 0.038 inch per edge, 80 pages and 1.93 mm total shift. The Booklet Creep default is an executable known-answer case, not a benchmark or recommendation. Change one input and verify that the direction of maximum inner-sheet creep still matches the stated relationship.
How to interpret the result
Use this as an initial imposition offset and verify a folded physical dummy; RIPs and bindery workflows may define or distribute creep differently. The additional Booklet Creep outputs expose the denominator, comparison, capacity or reverse value needed to audit the primary result instead of presenting one unexplained number.

Compression, fold geometry, cover stock, binding method, signature nesting, grain direction and printer-specific creep conventions are excluded. Booklet Creep is an estimate and cannot replace a contract, local code, licensed professional, calibrated measurement, lender statement or platform report where one governs the decision.
